Legal Information

The name of the Corporation is HEALTH EMERGENT INTERNATIONAL SERVICES, and is exempt from Federal income tax under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.

The purpose of Health Emergent International Services provides healthcare services, training, health-related management services in developing and emerging nations. Health Emergent International Services is a publicly supported organization described in the Internal Revenue Code section 509(a)(1) and 170(b)(1)(A) (vi). For purposes of public support donations, granters and contributors may relay on this determination and may deduct contributions to Health Emergent International Services as provided in section 170 of the Internal Revenue Code. Bequests, legacies, devices, transfers, or gifts are deductible for Federal estates and gift tax purposes if they meet the applicable provisions of sections 2055, 2106, and 2522 of the IRC.

Subject to such limitations and conditions as are or may be prescribed by law, the Articles of Incorporation and Bylaws, the Corporation shall have all powers which now or hereafter conferred by law upon corporations organized under Chapter 24.03 of the Revised Code of Washington, as amended (the "Washington Non-Profit Corporation Act"), and as may be necessary or appropriate to carry out the intent and purposes of the Corporation.

No substantial part of the activities of the Corporation shall be the carrying on of propaganda, or otherwise attempting to influence legislation, except as my be permitted to Section 501(c)(3) organized by the Internal Revenue Code. Health Emergent International Services shall not participate in, or intervene in (including the publication or distribution of statements) any political campaign on behalf of any candidate for public office.

The Corporation shall not conduct or carry on activities not permitted to be conducted or carried on by an organization exempt under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code as now stated, or as it may be hereafter amended, or contrary Section 170(c)(2) of such Code as now stated, or as may be hereafter amended.

Health Emergent International Services is a non-profit corporation with 100% of all donations and contributions generated going "directly" to benefit the peoples of economically developing and emerging third world counties. All overhead, professional services and administrative costs are fully and freely donated by colleagues, co-workers, contributors, and friends of Health Emergent International Services.
